Meet the Bougie Bus: Retro Charm Is Ready to Serve

Before deliveries came with tracking numbers, text alerts and apps, they came with a familiar truck pulling up to the curb.

The milkman. The morning paper. Household deliveries. And, if you were especially lucky, the unmistakable arrival of the neighborhood ice cream truck.

The 1961 International Harvester METRO van was built for that very American kind of everyday work. Practical, sturdy and instantly recognizable, these hardworking delivery vehicles were designed to bring something you desired right to your door.

Lowe & Behold’s Bougie Bus is inspired by that classic silhouette, with the delightful addition of a decidedly more glamorous assignment.

Finished in brilliant Victory Red and Wimbledon White, accented with chrome, brass, retro whitewall tires and a glowing crown of Edison bulbs, this vintage-inspired serving station does much more than deliver the goods.

It delivers a moment.

A Little Nostalgia. A Lot of Personality.

The Bougie Bus may look perfectly at home surrounded by carnival lights and midway-inspired décor, but don’t let the red-and-white color palette typecast it.

This is one versatile vehicle.

Think retro Americana. Backyard-chic celebrations. Holiday parties. Company picnics. Sporting events. Tailgates. Western themes. Summer gatherings. Vintage weddings. Corporate celebrations. County-fair inspiration. Bold modern events that become unforgettable with the addition of one unexpected focal point.

…Or forget the theme altogether.

Sometimes a fabulous red truck serving cocktails, desserts or late-night bites is reason enough.

With its curved vintage profile, chrome “Baby Moon” hubcaps, whitewall tires and working headlights, marker lights and taillights, the Bougie Bus brings just enough authenticity to spark nostalgia without feeling like a museum piece.

Then there are those Edison bulbs.

A crown of cosmetic bulbs traces the upper profile of the Bus, providing both practical area lighting and a warm decorative glow. As the sun goes down or ballroom lights dim, the Bougie Bus shines.

Designed for So Much More Than Good Looks

For all its personality, this prop was created to work.

The full-size, three-sided replica has an open interior approximately 10 feet wide by 5 feet deep, providing room for catering staff and service needs while keeping the mechanics of hospitality largely out of guests’ view.

A 72-inch-wide service counter sits at a comfortable 42-inch height, creating a natural walk-up spot for serving food, drinks or treats.

Above the Bus, a simple canopy provides additional lighting and supports a chalkboard-style header. Custom signage overlays can be created at an additional cost, allowing the presentation to reflect the menu, company, celebration or event.

With so much flexibility, the Bougie Bus can become almost anything your menu calls for:

  • A signature cocktail or mocktail bar
  • Champagne or wine service
  • Ice cream, gelato or nostalgic frozen treats
  • Donuts, cookies and late-night desserts
  • Burgers, sliders and elevated comfort food
  • Tacos or street-inspired fare
  • Popcorn and carnival treats
  • Coffee and espresso service
  • Hot chocolate for holiday events
  • Charcuterie and grazing selections
  • Game-day favorites
  • Grab-and-go bites
  • A chef-attended specialty station

And because the Bus creates its own visual destination, the serving station becomes part of the entertainment rather than simply a place to pick up food.

Big Enough to Make an Entrance

The Bougie Bus has presence.

At approximately 15 feet wide, 6.75 feet deep and up to 8.25 feet high, this red Bus can anchor an event space and create an immediate guest destination.

Yet unlike an actual vintage delivery truck, it was conceived as an event prop. The three-sided construction and open interior allow service professionals to work behind the scenes while guests enjoy everything happening out front.

The Best Kind of Throwback

Great event design doesn’t have to take itself too seriously.

Sometimes the element guests remember most is the one that made them grin when they first saw it, drew them across the room for a closer look and inevitably became the backdrop for photographs.

The Bougie Bus does all three.

It’s nostalgic without being old-fashioned, playful without requiring a carnival theme and functional enough to earn its place at the party.

After all, the original METRO vans were built to make deliveries.

The Bougie Bus just happens to deliver cocktails, desserts, late-night snacks and a whole lot more fun.

P.S. Love the concept, but looking for something a little more pastel, perhaps a little Euro-flavored? We’ve got you covered!
